It's probably appalling that it's such a novelty to me, but on Sunday I went to a friend's house and picked a bunch of pie cherries off her cherry tree. I took them home and washed them and popped out their pits and stuck them in the refrigerator. On Monday my lovely sister-in-law R made a pie out of them and on Tuesday we took it to a party and I ate a piece.

My sad little consumerized brain is boggled by the fact that something I tore off a tree can be made into mind-blowingly delicious food. So strange.
