the dang test is back here... )

Probably that 8 is really what last week should have been too rather than the artificially low 5.

Let's see, short work week. Got my teeth cleaned on Monday. Wednesday had my annual physical and learned that my cholesterol is back in the normal range. Then in the evening saw the Village Theater's production of the musical Beauty and the Beast which was oddly unsatisfying. Cooked stuffing Wednesday night, then Thursday drove (rental) three hours to my aunt's house which is normally two hours away. Had a nice visit with aunt and uncle and sister and nephew and bro-in-law. Mostly nephew. Drove out through Pe Ell to Raymond and up to Aberdeen to visit B's sister R. Stayed overnight and shopped downtown Aberdeen on Friday before heading home. Sunday fixed a flat on my bike and went to the library. Watched more of The Wire season 1 with friends. Heavy excitement.

For most of the past year I've been enjoying Shadow Unit, the collaborative fiction project of [livejournal.com profile] coffeeem (Emma Bull), [livejournal.com profile] willshetterly (Will Shetterly), [livejournal.com profile] matociquala (Elizabeth Bear), [livejournal.com profile] truepenny (Sarah Monette), and [livejournal.com profile] stillsostrange (Amanda Downum). Even to the point of participating regularly on the discussion boards and messing about a little on the wiki. As you'd expect with that crew of writers, the plots and characters are wonderfully engrossing. We're still in hiatus so now's a great time to catch up on the first season before the new season starts next year.

I was going to steer clear of a mysterious new interactive fiction project until it started infiltrating the Shadow Unit boards and I got sucked in. And after getting sucked in I learned that it was the project of [livejournal.com profile] skzbrust (Steven Brust), Reesa Brown, and Kit O'Connell. And since Brust is on my ever-dwindling "buy in hard-cover" list, there is no escape. Before this week, the principal venue for this new project was the blog Voices from Port Outreach where you can read about and interact with people from another planet that they call Mother. If that isn't enough, this week their forum went live when [livejournal.com profile] txanne found it and pointed the way. If it sounds interesting, you should come over and play. Yell if you have questions and I'll try to help.

All by way of saying that between the two new fandoms I'm even more lost in internet space than usual. One of these days I'm going to have to get my life together in my copious free time.
