How's that for optimism? Couch to 5k w1d1: 20 minutes (ish), 5 minute walk followed by 6 sets of jog 60 seconds, walk 90. Here's the ground I covered (2.8km). I should do that walk to Rivendell thing, shouldn't I? This distance doesn't even get me a 10th of the way to the Hobbits' first campsite, but what did you expect for 20 minutes of out-of-shape lumbering?
