Anybody got a code they could give me? I'll probably buy an account when the launch comes around, but I'd love to get my preferred name so earlier would be better (not jry! My preferred name on lj hasn't been updated since 2000 and was only active for a little over a month at that time. So frustrating.). Email to jeffy@tomecat.com.

BTW, I tracked down the origin of the name on synechdoic's original announcement post:

We came up with the word 'dreamwidth' by analogy with 'bandwidth' -- if bandwidth is a measure of how much data you can transfer, dreamwidth is a measure of how much creativity you can transfer.

Which I thought was kind of cute even though I was completely incapable of deriving the meaning from the name without this help. Maybe I'm just slow.
