1. my severance check arrived by fedex this morning. Seeing that large check, more than anything else so far made this whole laid-off thing seem more real. It's been two weeks today.

2. walked to the bank to deposit that check, then ran from there. Interesting how much easier the second set is than the first.

3. talked to my dad the other day on his birthday and he asked what I'd been doing with all my free time. I flailed for an answer and distracted him with the running thing. I've been doing all sorts of things. Staying up late and sleeping late, reading LJ, mucking about on Facebook, running, grocery shopping, cooking, Shadow Unit fanac, a trash walk, a concert, bingeing (sp?) on Gilmore Girls, various home tweaks, reading Filter House, reading Momentum, ripping the last of our CD collection, researching memory upgrade for our ibook, art sale activities, art walk, dinner with friends, going to the library, tabling for GAIT at the Saturday market, picking up trash at the Saturday market, and who knows what all else that I don't even remember. But putting that into a sentence or two that my dad or anyone who has a less-fragmented set of activities is a challenge that's beyond me. I think I need to come up with something though because I doubt this is the last time I'll be asked the question.

4. It's Thursday already and the need to send out some resumes this week is pressing, so next task on the agenda is to update the resume to something I won't be embarrassed to claim. It's not too far off, but still. I also have a hefty stack of literature from the unemployment folks that I need to read.

5. It's a lovely day out (of the cool variety) and I'd much rather go pick up trash. We got a thank you note from my 8-year-old niece yesterday about her visit last month and one of the things she said was "Thank you for letting me pick up some of the garbage in the neighborhood." <3 <3 <3)
